The TIGERS defeated the ORKAS 4-3 on December 1st. It was the 20th loss of the season for the European club in the Venezuelan Liga Paralela. DETROIT took a fast 3-1 lead in the bottom of the second and countered an ORKAS-run in the top of the sixth right away to seal the victory. The ALB cut the deficit to a run in the eighth once again, but it was too little too late.
Bryon Bell started in right field and went three for four with two runs scored. Catcher Israel Diaz doubled homered and drove in two. Besides the two middle of the order bats, only Gerson Manzanillo, Ricky Thomas and Andres Lizarazo reached base for the ORKAS.
Carlos Farias (L 1-3) conceded six hits, three runs (2 ER) and two walks in five innings, striking out five. Shane Gnade replaced him in the sixth and gave up an unearned run on a hit and a wild pitch. He struck out two in his one inning of work. The pitchers were hurt by a struggling defense, which committed five errors in the games, two apiece for corner infielder Emilio Linarez and Diaz.
