After Aroldis Chapman in 2009 and Gerardo Concepcion in 2011, a third Cuban pitcher has used the World Port Tournament to defect from Cuba with hopes to sign in professional baseball. According to a report by Honkbalsite.com the 26-year-old Odrisamer Despaigne left the team during a layover at Charles de Gaulle international airport in Paris, France on Saturday. It is expected that he traveled to Spain, where he father is a resident. He played for Cuba in the 2013 World Baseball Classic and had an ERA of 3.27 in the just finished season of the Cuban National League.
