After Rodney Medina (family reasons) and Jean Toledo (contract in Mexico), Novara United loses another player who decided not to show up for the 2012 season. Fernando Gutierrez, who also pitched in Spain and in the Netherlands, is not coming either. The club doesn’t know why and they hope he won’t play for a different team in Europe later this year. The bad luck for Novara continues as first baseman Riccardo Tavarnelli broke his finger this week. Additionally someone broke into the locker rooms on Tuesday to steal belongings of the practicing players. United is opening the 2012 season this weekend against T&A San Marino.
