New Pitcher for Stockerau Cubs

Matthias KOPPENSTEINER, a left-handed pitcher, will join the Stockerau Cubs for the 2008 season. He appeared in nine games (eight starts) for the Baseball-Bundesliga team Schremser Beers (second division in Austria) in 2007. He posted a 0-6 record with an ERA of 5.62. He struck out 55 (25 BB) in 42.1 innings pitched.

He also had a solid offensive year. He posted a batting average of .302 with four homeruns, nine runs scored and twelve RBI.

KOPPENSTEINER participated two times at the MLB European Academy.

The Cubs finished in sixth place of the Austrian Baseball League.
