New head coach for Gauting Indians

Posted on January 5, 2008 by philipp

The Gauting Indians appoint American Robert FRITZ as new head coach for their Baseball-Bundesliga team. The 51-year-old will begin his career in Germany in March.

He worked as an coach for several high school and youth teams in Ohio until 2004.  In 2005 he took over as a coach in the Class A Collegiant Summer League, where he won the championship in 2005 (reached College World Series and finished fourth in NABF) and 2006. He also worked as an associate scout for the Cincinnati Reds organisation.

FRITZ will succeed Bernard MARKUSIC, who resigned this winter due to professional reasons.

The Indians finished in seventh place of the eight-team southern conference of the Baseball-Bundesliga.
