Posted on August 15, 2007April 9, 2021 by MrBB

Nettuno’s Giovanni CARRARA and Florian FRAILYN combined to blank Grosseto 4-0 Tuesday night an even the Italian Baseball League finals at 2 games apiece.

Nettuno broke a scoreless tie with a three-run third inning and added an insurance run in the seventh inning. But on a cool night in Italy, Nettuno only needed one run because of strong outings from their ace pitchers.

CARRARA fanned eight hitters and allowed only three hits in five innings on the mound. FRAILYN took over in the sixth ining and slammed the door shut on Grosseto’s offense scattering four hits and no runs over four innings.

Grosseto’s Lincoln MIKKELSEN lost for the first time after winning five straight starts. MIKKELSEN blanked Nettuno in Game 1, 3-0, when he outpitched CARRARA who rebounded to win Game 4.

Pitching has been the key in the series which has featured three shutouts in four games. Carlos Richetti – Game 2 winner for Nettuno – will battle Junior Oberto in a crucial Game 5 matchup. RICHETTI defeated Grosseto and OBERTO 5-3 to knot the series at 1 to 1.
