According to a report by Monne Reitsma of the Haarlems Dagblad the Netherlands will continue the 2016 European Championship with a 23-man roster. On Thursday afternoon manager Steve Janssen returned to the team after a personal appointment in Belgium and met Rogear Bernadina in the lobby of the team hotel. He asked him if he already had seen the starting lineup against Spain, which didn’t include the former Major Leaguer. Bernadina didn’t expect to sit on the bench and decided to abandon the team. In an interview, which Janssen did with Reitsma following the matchup against Spain on Thursday, he explained that Bernadina was replaced in the starting lineup with Chris Garia after Bernadina didn’t show up for a scheduled practice. Bernadina was 5-for-16 with a home run in the tournament.
