Neptunus beats Kinheim 5-1 on Thursday

NEPTUNUS and KINHEIM continued their series between Dutch European Cup participants on Thursday. The club from Rotterdam went home with a 5-1 victory. CORENDON took a 1-0 lead on a RBI single by Roel Koolen in the fourth, but it was their only run they would bring on the board on the evening.

NEPTUNUS answered in the sixth. They loaded the bases and Jeffrey Arends cleared them with a double down into right field for a 3-1 lead. Eugene Kingsale added a pair of insurance runs in the ninth on a homerun. Overall the center fielder reached base in all of his five plate appearances.

Leon Boyd received the win after seven solid innings. He allowed five hits, an unearned run and two base on balls. He struck out seven. Reliever Berry van Driel loaded the bases in the eighth and closer Dushan Ruzic had to come in to clean up the mess for the save. Robin van Eis took the loss after 5 1/3 innings, giving up three hits, two runs and five walks.
