Posted on November 1, 2007 by philipp

The 2007 champion Montepaschi Grosseto signed relief pitcher Anthony FERRARI this week. He gets a two-year-contract.

FERRARI is 29 years old and was born in San Francisco. The Montreal Expos drafted him in 2000, played 243 minor league games (no starts) overall with an ERA of 3.36. He also pitched in four major league games (4 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 5 BB) for the Expos in 2003. His minor league career ended after the 2005 season. Montepaschi signed him in 2006 already, striking out 14 in 14 innings pitched.

After that he returned to the United States, pitching for the Camden Riversharks in an independent league, where he posted an ERA of 4.82 with 13 wins and five losses in 125 innings. He and his fastball of about 90 miles per hour will strengthen the pitching staff of Grosseto next season.
