The reigning Italian champion Montepaschi Grosseto confirmed on a press conference on Thursday several players on the roster.
After weeks of speculation, they announced the signing of utility man Anthony CARACCIOLO. He played for the relegated team of Avigliana. He hit .181 with two homeruns, seven doubles and ten RBI in 2007. He will join former teammate outfielder Lorenzo AVAGNINA as new face in the clubhouse in Grosseto.
They also said, that most of the foreign players will be back. They confirmed pitcher Lincoln MIKKELSEN (7-4, ERA 2.01), Jorge NUNEZ (AVG .277), Raul Arturo MARVAL (AVG .319) and Kelly RAMOS (AVG .248). They are hopeful with Hector SENA (ERA 1.90).
Andrea DE SANTIS and Luca BISCHERI, who suffered injuries, should be healthy for next year.
They are interested in pitcher Luca PANERATI for next season. However the Italian national team member is considering pitching for the Cincinnati Reds organisation. It is not clear, which contract he is favouring.
