The MOBSSz Winter Clinic was a nine-day indoor program run by volunteers and offered following free of charge activities to players and coaches:
– junior national team practice & senior national team practice
– open training day for age 16 and over
– pitching clinic for all ages
– hitting clinic for all ages
– defense / catcher clinic for all ages
– indoor softball tournament
– softball national team practice & coaching clinic
– training day and indoor tournament for age 15 and under
Indoor trainings opened the season for the junior and the senior national teams. Both teams will have an intensive season; however the focus is now on the junior team which will play on the CEB European Championship Qualifiers in August.
Daily 15-25 players attended the open training day and clinics and more than 80 players and twelve coaches registered for the last three days of the Winter Clinic. On the second weekend activities were kicked off with a softball tournament on Friday evening. The following day the softball national team took the gym for season opener training meanwhile a baseball coaching clinic was running in the other gym. The coaching clinic was run by the National Team coaching staff and its focus was coaching on youth level.
This clinic filled a void as there has not been such education in the country in past couple of years. On Sunday the whole event was closed with the first ever indoor youth baseball tournament in Hungary which was won by Érd Pioneers.
MOBSSz plans to make this winter clinic to be a regular annual event in the future and hopes to expand it to participants from neighbor countries!
