MLB to test Extra-Inning Rule in Minor Leagues in 2017

Posted on February 10, 2017February 9, 2017 by philipp

Major League Baseball is testing a similar extra-inning rule, which is being used in international competitions since 2009, in the Gulf Coast League and the Arizona Summer League this summer. With the adjusted rule a runner would be placed on second base at the start of the 10th inning, if the game is tied. MLB can test rule changes in the minor leagues without the approval of the players’ union.
