Press Release MLB International

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL STARS COME TO THE NETHERLANDS AND BELGIUM ON THE EUROPEAN BIG LEAGUE TOUR

This November, Major League Baseball stars Rick Van den Hurk (Baltimore Orioles), John Baker (Florida Marlins), Greg Halman (Seattle Mariners), Adam Jones (Baltimore Orioles), and Jeremy Guthrie (Baltimore Orioles), as well as Major League Baseball hitting coach Jim Presley and strength and conditioning expert Kyle Barbour will bring their expertise to the Netherlands and Belgium as they participate in the first European Big League Tour.

Organised by Dutch baseball star Rick Van den Hurk himself, the European Big League Tour will see these Major League Baseball players and coaches show off their skills at four free clinics for children aged 6-15 who are interested in the sport. Though any children wanting to participate in the clinics, which will be held in Eindhoven (Indoor Sportcentrum) on 6 November, Haarlem (Kennemer Sportcenter) on 7 November, Rotterdam (Topsportcentrum) on 9 November, and Antwerp (Extra Time Sport Hall, Hoboken) on 13 November, must register on www.europeanbigleaguetour.com, the clinics are open for the public to come watch. This unique opportunity to see Major League Baseball stars up close is a must-attend for anyone interested in baseball!

Rick Van den Hurk said, “the tour will not only spread the game that we love so much, but it will also help kids, coaches, and local players experience what it is like to learn from some of the best in the game and in the world.” At the clinics, kids will have the chance to practice their hitting, catching and pitching with the players, as well as have their photos taken. Spectators may get the chance to get involved as well!

To celebrate the arrival of these Major League Baseball stars and to benefit children’s cancer charity Kika, a dinner and auction will be held on Friday, 5 November at the NH Barbizon Palace Hotel, Amsterdam. Tickets are on sale and attendees will have the chance to dine with the Major League Baseball players, as well as bid on items including Yankees jerseys signed by Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Jorge Posada, and Mariano Rivera, and shirts of footballers including Arjen Robben and Mark van Bommel. Laura Fygi and Ali B. will provide entertainment, and sports journalist Mark Smeets will speak.
