We already counted backwards with a few short video clips on Mister-Baseball.com’s Facebook Page. Tonight at 7pm CET Major League Baseball is opening its 2011 season. Six games are scheduled for today; eleven more will follow tomorrow before the first full game day will be played on Saturday.

While some European players played a role during Spring Training, there aren’t many on the opening day rosters of the 30 MLB teams. Jair Jurrjens is still nursing a minor rib cage injury, but should still be on line to make his first start for the Atlanta Braves on April 6. Andruw Jones will be the fourth outfielder for the New York Yankees. Mike Nickeas is going to start the season as the backup catcher for the New York Mets. However his stint could be limited, as Ronny Paulino sits out a eight-game suspension.

You can follow Major League Baseball in Europe via ESPN America and MLB.tv.
