Since Monday the annual MLB Fall Tournament is being played through Saturday at the Armin-Wolf-Arena facilities in Regensburg, Germany. 98 players from 17 countries have been invited to Regensburg. The prospects are divided into four teams, playing 16 games overall.
The four teams are led by the Netherlands, Italy, Czech Republic and Germany. Belgium, Belarus, Sweden, France, Spain, Lithuania, Russia, Austria, Israel, Denmark, Croatia, Switzerland and Great Britain also are represented. Games are played at the stadium in Regensburg and the new field, which just was opened.
The fall tournament was added to the calendar last year and is a supplement to the development program of MLB Europe besides the MLB Academies Spring Tournament, the MLB Hitting and Pitching Mini Camp and the MLB European Elite Camp. The main purpose of the tournament is supposed to give the top European prospects more playing time at a high level.
