The Bad Homburg Hornets have added a former minor leaguer one week before starting into the 2012 season in the German Baseball-Bundesliga. The 22-year-old right-hander Jennell Hudson from Cologne, Germany, was a member of the Boston Red Sox organization from 2008 to 2011. After his debut season in professional baseball he suffered a serious elbow injury, which eventually led to Tommy John surgery.
Hudson returned healthy to the Gulf Coast League in 2011, going 2-3 with an ERA of 9.28 in 21.1 innings pitched. The Red Sox released him last fall. Since hip hop is his second passion, Hudson was looking for a club in the Frankfurt area to resume his baseball career. The Hornets fit this profile with the Musician Joe Whitney as president. They are not only going to use him as pitcher in game one each week, but also as utility player.
