Milan Thunder’s Five has finished first for the fourth consecutive year in the regular season of the Italian league of baseball for the blind. Milan had to beat or tie the doubleheader against the Bologna White Sox on Sunday, June 26, to clinch the top spot for the 15th title in the history of the league. Milan lost the first game 11-12 but won the second 16-15. Bologna suffered from the loss of their star hitter Sahli Driss to a hamstring injury. Milan was very strong in the box in the second game with homerun hitter Sarwar Ghulam, who leads the league with 24 season homeruns in 14 games.

The season will now move on to a European Championship between Milan and Bologna in Trieste July 23 and 24. This competition has been recognized by the International Baseball Federation.

The Italian League will conclude the season in September with their cup tournament between the eight teams.
