Mike Lantzy new player-manager in Hanover

Posted on February 28, 2008 by philipp

The Hanover Regents have signed a new pitcher/head coach. Mike LANTZY joins the club in April to make it stronger. The Regents got just one victory in 2007 and stayed only in the Baseball-Bundesliga because no team was relegated in the northern conference.

LANTZY is 24 years old and was at the University of Missouri-St. Louis the past five seasons. The UMSL Tritons are playing in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (NCAA Division II). He had an overall record of 11-18 with a combined ERA of 3.51 in 50 games (35 starts). He had 165 strikeouts (64 walks) in 264.1 innings pitched. Besides his sophomore year 2005 he had a pretty solid college career with an ERA varying between 2.70 and 2.91.

He is supposed to give some consistency to the pitching staff, which ranked dead last with a horrible ERA of 10.12 during the regular season. LANTZY will stay at least six months and is going to coach all squads of the club. They will face the Neunkirchen Nightmares on April 5 to open the season.
