Left-handed pitcher Michael Roth, who pitched for Great Britain in the WBC Qualifier in 2012 and was on the preliminary roster for this year’s European Championship, got designated for assignment by the Los Angeles Angels at the end of November and elected free agency rather than heading to the minors. The 24-year-old appeared in 22 games (1 start) for the Angels in the big leagues split between 2013 and 2014. He went 2-1 with an ERA of 7.79 in 32 1/3 innings. He struck out 26 and walked 15. In the Minors he had an ERA of 3.35 through 50 games in three seasons.
