The Mexicans took the lead in the second period and added two more until the end of the sixth for a 4-2 advantage. They broke the game open with seven runs after the seventh inning stretch. They used a big error with the bases loaded and three consecutive doubles to ran up the score. The Italians tried their best and rallied to cut the deficit to 1-2 and 2-3 in the fourth and sixth frame. Nevertheless, they could not score more.
Jose Heberto FELIX FONG got three hits in four at-bats and a double. Sergio Alberto CONTRERAS ESTRELLA and Efren RODRIGUEZ ESPINOZA had two hits apiece.
Mario CHIARINI hi a solo-homerun in the fourth.
Emil KAMAR LAZCANO (W 1-1) pitched five-plus innings for the win, allowing three hits, two runs and two walks. He struck out one. The reliever David Ivan DOMINGUEZ OSUNA, Jose de Jesus JIMENEZ DE LA CRUZ, Jose COBOS CARRILO and Miguel Eduardo DUARTE DURAN gave up just two hits and a base on balls until the end.
Anthony FERRARI (L 0-1) was charged with two runs on three hits in 2 1/3 innings. He struck out two, walking none. Cody CILLO, Alessandro MAESTRI, Orlando OBERTO, Chris DI ROMA, Mattia SALSI and Luca PANERATI also pitched for Italy.
