The Belgian First Division club Merchtem Cats has signed the American pitcher Ethan Guevin. He comes to Europe after attending Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. The NCAA Division III School has an athletic program, which dates back to 1887.
Guevin had a 4-5 record with an ERA of 3.18 during the 2009 season. He struck out 37 batters in 65 innings, while walking 25. He allowed 64 hits and opponents batted .267 against him.
The right-hander also picked off a league-best nine base runners in his 15 games on the mound. At the plate Guevin batted .363 (OBP .390/SLG .484) with two triples, seven doubles, 13 runs scored and 17 RBI in 91 at-bats. He played the infield, when he wasn’t pitching.
