Matteo Bocchi to attend University of Texas after Showcase

Posted on November 10, 2016 by philipp

Parma, Italy native Matteo Bocchi has signed with the University of Texas. The NCAA Division I college is the alma mater of Roger Clemens. The right-handed pitcher who played for Crocetta and Bologna in Italy, attended Odessa College Community College the past two years. He went on an International Stars showcase tour in the United States put together by Justin Prinstein and Mauro Mazzotti two years ago and garnered enough interest to go to Odessa College. Now his performances have left to the signing with the Division I school. On Wednesday he signed a letter of intent with the Longhorns.

“I’m really, excited. I think it’s going to be a good place to grow and have a chance to play in the bigs. Being, also, the first Italian player at UT, it’s like, really, I mean, incredible for me,” said Bocchi.
