The French club Hawks La Guerche has signed the Canadian Mathieu BEAUCHAMP for the upcoming season. He is 24 years and will serve as a player-coach in France. He played several years at Gatineau in Quebec, Canada and was a member of the Canadian Baseball Academy for four years.

In 2007 he was on an independent league club, called MarcSports in the Quebec area. He batted .386 (OBP .455/SLG .474) with 15 runs scored and ten RBI in 20 games. He also was on the mound in twelve matches. He had an ERA of 3.16 with 84 strikeouts (52 walks) in 57.2 innings pitched.

La Guerche opens the new season next weekend against the Templiers Senart. Last year the Hawks finished in sixth place with just three victories.
