Masahiro Tanaka isn’t playing in the 2017 edition of the World Baseball Classic. The right-hander of the New York Yankees confirmed on Monday that he will skip the tournament according to the Associated Press. The 28-year-old won the WBC with Japan in 2009. Currently only Norichika Aoki will be the lone MLB player on Samurai Japan’s roster. Japan hosts a first-round pool in Tokyo with Australia, Cuba and China from March 7 to 11.
