Marlins Puerto Cruz defend streak and first place against Baseball Navarra

Posted on June 13, 2008 by philipp

The top four teams in the Spanish Division de Honor all face teams from the bottom half of the standings. The MARLINS and STAN BOI are still at the top with identical 15-3 records, followed by BARCELONA at 11-5.

PUERTO CRUZ hosts BASEBALL NAVARRA on Saturday. They count on starter Leslie Nacar (5-0, ERA 0.94) and Ivan Granados (7-1, ERA 2.12) to continue their ten-game winning streak. However with the European Cup in front of them, they could also change a few things pitching wise. NAVARRA bring on German Arroyo (2-2, ERA 2.80) and Alberto Espanol (4-2, ERA 3.92) to stop the offense of the MARLINS led by Richard Montiel (.359, 6 HR, 24 RBI). The guests hope that Juan Jose Lopez (.452, 5 HR, 14 RBI) stays as hot as he did the last couple of weeks.

The other Spanish European Cup participant, the FC BARCELONA faces CD PAMPLONA at home. It is going to be their first real game action since May 25, when they lost 2-0 against EL LLANO. Let’s see if they are a bit rusty.

In other matchups SANT BOI travels to Bilbao to take on SAN INAZIO. VILADECANS plays against EL LLANO.
