Baseball America released a list of minor league free agents from the 30 MLB organizations. Several European countries have been represented among them.
Germany’s right-handed pitcher Markus Solbach, who re-signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks midway through the 2016 season after getting released at the end of Spring Training, is looking for a new contract.
Dutch infielder Sharlon Schoop of the Baltimore Orioles, who is currently playing with the Netherlands an exhibition series against Japan at the Tokyo Dome, also is a free agent. Also on the Dutch roster in Tokyo, Shawn Zarraga, saw a cup of coffee in the big leagues with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but now needs to find a new contract as well.
From the Cincinnati Reds two players are looking for new homes. Catcher Chris Berset, who played for Great Britain at the European Championship in Hoofddorp and the WBC Qualifier in Brooklyn, saw his contract run out at the end of the season. German outfielder Donald Lutz is a free agent as well. His season was cut short, when he underwent elbow surgery this past summer to clean up some loose ends after Tommy John surgery the year before.
Outfielder Roger Bernadina, who started the European Championship with the Netherlands and then was sent home prior to the off day, played for the Triple-A team of the New York Mets this summer, but now has been a free agent as well. He last played in the big leagues in 2014 with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
