The 24-year-old shortstop/third baseman Mark Marelich joins the Austrian Baseball League club Union Kufstein Vikings for the upcoming season. He tried out with the team last week and will be used also as a reliever for last year’s fourth-ranked team. The past two seasons he played for the California State University East Bay (NCAA Division III), batting .313 (OBP .422/SLG .447) with six homeruns, 58 runs, 56 RBI and 22 stolen bases in 81 games. After making a trip throughout Europe Marelich will arrive in Kufstein in mid-March.
