The German Baseball-Bundesliga club Mannheim Tornados maintains two import players for the 2016 season. Shortstop Ian Vasquez and starting pitcher Michael Torrealba are both returning to join the team of new player-coach Juan Martin. Vasquez batted .371 in 28 games for the record title holder, who once again missed the playoffs. Torreabla got signed mid-season after the previous starter didn’t impress. He had an ERA of 2.16 in 12 starts, beat the Buchbinder Legionaere and hurled a no-hitter.
