Mannheim Tornados add Eddie Aucoin

Posted on January 25, 2008 by philipp

Eddie AUCOIN, one of the best pitchers in the German Baseball-Bundesliga, signed a contract with former champion Mannheim Tornados. He impressed last season with a 9-5 record and an ERA of 1.91 despite playing for the low-scoring Haar Disciples. He struck out 117 in 99 innings pitched, walking only nine. He also hit .300 with two home runs, twelve runs scored and 14 RBI.  He will take over as the foreign pitcher for the Tornados in the second game of the usual doubleheader. They had some problems at this position after Francisco OZUNA ZAPATA (6-2, ERA 3.15, 60 IP, 64 SO, 23 BB) had left the team.

AUCOIN was born on October 15, 1975 in Newton, Massachusetts. He played professional fast pitch softball for “The King and His Court” between 1998 and 2001. In 2002 he was named MVP in the Swedish Baseball league. From 2003 until 2005 he pitched for three different independent league teams (17-1, ERA 2.81, 195.1 IP, 163 SO, 44 BB). He came to Germany in 2006, playing for the Gauting Indians (7-5, ERA 2.64, 81.2 IP, 74 SO, 7 BB).
