The 31-year-old Venezuelan right-hander Eduardo Villacis is going to pitch for the reigning Swiss champion Bern Cardinals in 2011. Pitching for the Kansas City Royals he made one start against the New York Yankees in 2004, his lone appearance in the MLB. He allowed six hits, five runs and four walks in 3 1/3 innings to take the loss.
His professional career started in the Colorado Rockies organization in 2000. He later also was a member of the Royals and the Chicago White Sox. After his affiliated minor league career ended in 2005 Villacis spent two years in the independent Atlantic League. Overall he had an ERA of 3.51 in the minors.
