Posted on March 30, 2015March 30, 2015 by philipp

The Mainz Athletics have signed right-handed pitcher A.J. Mackey for the 2015 season in the German Baseball-Bundesliga. The 24-year-old is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday. He is the fourth new player on the roster after Joel Johnson, Jonathan Wagner and Peter Johannessen.

Mackey was an infielder at USC Upstate in South Carolina. Following his college career he converted to pitcher and played semi-professionally in a league in Florida. Mainz will not only use him as pitcher in game two each week, but also on offense.
