The Mainz Athletics have added left-handed pitcher/first baseman Michael McIver for the remainder of the 2014 season. He is coming from the Belgian First Division club Namur Angels to Germany. He is expected to make his debut this weekend against the Tubingen Hawks. He is a Olympia, Washington native and played winter ball in Australia together with A’s players Andrew Jones and Kevin Kotowski. He is expected to strengthen the bullpen of Mainz, which has seen Pascal Raab and Tim Stahlmann being sidelined with long-term injuries.
