Outfielder and part-time pitcher Lorenzo Avagnina leaves MONTEPASCHI GROSSETO after just one season to join TELEMARKET RIMINI. The 28-year-old came to the 2007 champion last winter from the relegated club AVIGLIANA. In 2008 he batted .268 (OBP .384/SLG .338) with two homeruns, 22 runs scored and 15 RBI. He also picked up two wins in three games as a reliever, allowing one hit in four innings. It was his second season in the Italian Baseball League.
Avagnina is one of the better fielders in the league and is supposed to join Mario Chiarini, Filippo Crociati and Claudio Signori in the outfield of the PIRATES. He is also the sixth player signed by RIMINI this winter after infielders Ivanon Coffie, Phil LoCascio and Eddie Rios and pitchers Jorge Balboa and Fernando Gutierrez.
