Posted on August 7, 2015 by philipp

Despite the European Champions Cup final with Curacao Neptunus Rotterdam this weekend, the Dutch Hoofdklasse is playing its last regular season game day this weekend. On Thursday evening Corendon Kinheim shut out the Vaessen Pioniers in Hoofddorp 17-0. Bryan Engelhardt hit his eighth home run of the season and drove in four runs for Kinheim. They scored in each of the first five innings and in six of the seven frames played. Glenn Wassink and two relievers meanwhile kept the Pioniers to five hits and two walks. Elton Koeiman lasted 2 2/3 innings to take the loss.

DSS also celebrated a shutout, winning 1-0 over HCAW Bussum. The lone run was scored in the fifth through a RBI single. Tim Halderman issued just three hits and four walks in seven scoreless innings to pick up the win. Kaj Timmermans got charged with the loss. UVV defeated Mampaey The Hawks 9-7 in the third game on Thursday. UVV had a 5-0 lead midway through the third. But the Hawks tied the contest in the fourth. However the team from Utrecht found a way to recover and prevailed by two runs in the end.
