Loek van Mil: Dutch right-hander Loek van Mil debuted for the Los Angeles Angels in the Cactus League on Thursday. However it wasn’t a successful outing, as he allowed one hit, two runs (1 ER) and two walks in one thirds of an inning. He was charged with the loss in the 3-4 defeat of the Angels against the Kansas City Royals.
Kai Gronauer: Just hours after hitting a three-run homerun German catcher Kai Gronauer was reassigned to minor league camp by the New York Mets organization. Besides receiving regular playing time in preparations for the upcoming season one of the reasons probably also was the arrival of Ronny Paulino in training camp.
Mike Nickeas: British national team catcher Mike Nickeas is still in Major League camp, but probably also will see losing playing time to Ronny Paulino, as he is the favorite to be the backup for Josh Thole with the New York Mets this year. Nickeas still received a nice story by columnist Art Stapleton.
Rick van den Hurk: Dutch right-hander Rick van den Hurk who is fighting for a spot on the opening day roster of the Baltimore Orioles, had a rough outing on Friday. He gave up three hits and five runs (2 ER) in one relief inning, closing out a 6-13 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. He struck out two and allowed a two-run homerun by John Mayberry Jr.
