Live Streaming of Women’s Baseball World Cup, as play continues

After the Women’s Baseball World Cup was overshadowed by a shooting injury this weekend, it returned to the playing field on Sunday. On Monday the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) offered more good news, as you can follow the games via live video streaming. Check out the link.

Results Day 3

The return to games saw 6 matches on the card for August 15th. Pool B were first to start play as the teams from Caracas made their way down to Maracay with Cuba taking on South Korea. The day ended with a near capacity crowd of 9000 turning out to see Venezuela come from behind against Chinese Taipei.

Cuba Vs. Puerto Rico: 12 -1 (5)

Cuba put on a hitting display in the all-Caribbean affair defeating Puerto Rico 12 – 1 in 5 innings. 12 hits in conjunction with 7 errors set the stage for the scoring opportunities leading to the Cuban Victory in the first of their double header.

USA Vs. South Korea: 21 – 0 (5)

18 runs on 21 hits were too much for the Korean squad as Team USA cruised to a 21 – 0 victory. Loren Smith and Christian Sobeck combined to shutout the Korean offense, with Sobeck recording 2 strikeouts over 2 innings.

South Korea Vs. Japan: 0 – 14 (5)

South Koreas second match of the day against Japan ended in 5 innings with Japan putting up 14 runs with 15 hits, including a Home Run by Tomomi Nishi. Ayako Imai and Kana Sakamoto combined for 4 Strikeouts on the way to shutting out their Baseball Federation of Asia rivals.

Netherlands Vs. Australia: 3 – 16 (5)

Jose P. Colmenarez stadium played host to Australia Netherlands, with Australia besting the Netherlands in 5 innings for their first win of the tournament.

USA Vs. Cuba: 5 – 0

Team USA outhit Cuba 12 hits to 4 at Aviacion field moving to a record of 2-1. Team USA starter Martina Sementelli threw a complete game shutout with 9 strikeouts to keep the powerful Cubans in check.

Venezuela Vs Chinese Taipei: 5 – 3

9000 fans at Jose P. Colmenares Stadium were able to witness Venezuela putting up 3 runs in the top of the 7th to come from behind for victory. Venezuelan DH Kellyn Mendoza contributed with 3 RBI’s, while Digcelis Guevara recorded 3.1 scoreless innings in relief to collect the win.
