Liam Carroll new Headcoach of British National Team

The Executive Board of the British Baseball Federation has appointed Liam Carroll to be the new Head Coach for Great Britain Baseball.

Carroll, who is British-born and based in the UK, succeeds Sam Dempster, who retired shortly after keeping Great Britain in the European Championship A Pool last summer with a ninth-place finish.

Liam Carroll’s appointment represents a cultural shift in the way the GB programme will be run. As a London-based Head Coach, he will be on hand to oversee the GB programme from the Cadet (15U) through to the Senior National Team.

A former GB player, Carroll has been the Head Coach of the GB Lions for the past two years and has served as an Assistant Coach with the Senior National Team. He was short-listed along with GB Assistant Coach Brian Essery and former player Brad Marcelino from a field of 17 candidates and was appointed after a rigorous interview process.

Essery and Marcelino, two of the most important figures in recent GB Baseball history, will continue to work with the programme and support Coach Carroll.
