OTTAWA- LHP Jay Johnson (Sussex Corner, NB) has been added to Canada’s Provisional Roster for the upcoming World Baseball Classic.
Johnson replaces RHP Nick Bucci (Sarnia, ON) who has withdrawn after suffering a shoulder issue while in Spring Training with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Johnson appeared in 28 games out of the bullpen with the Philadelphia Phillies Double-A affiliate in Reading in 2012 and had a 2-1 record with a 5.02 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 28 2/3 innings.
In 2011, Johnson helped Canada to a bronze medal at the IBAF World Cup in Panama and a gold medal at the Pan Am Games in Mexico.
