Posted on March 8, 2009 by philipp

The French Elite League club LA GUERCHE HAWKS acquired two new players for the upcoming season. They announced on their website the signing of Sebastien Vezina and Fredrick Ouellette of the DIAMANTS DE QUEBEC.

The 20-year-old infielder Vezina played the past three years for the DIAMANTS and batted .316 (OBP .419/SLG.471) with three homeruns, one triple, 13 doubles, 31 runs scored and 37 RBI in 155 at bats last year. During his three-year career there he had a .284 batting average (.385/.394).

Ouellette is a 22-year-old right-handed pitcher, who played in the league since 2005, not only for QUEBEC, but also for two different teams. In 2008 he had a combined 4-1 record with two saves for the DIAMANTS and LONGUEUIL during the regular season, allowing twelve runs (8 ER) on 32 hits and 15 walks in 35 innings (ERA 1.60). He struck out 31 batters.
