It was the expected easy win for the South Korean team. They crushed Thailand 18-2 in the first Asian duel of the day (Chinese Taipei faces Japan later on). It was the third victory in the third game of the event. However their scoreless innings streak ended, when the World Cup of Baseball debutant scored their first runs in the fifth.
Korea started as supposed and scored two runs in the first. They added three more until the fourth. Thailand made it a bit more interesting in the fifth frame, as they brought their first runs in World Cup history on the board. But Korea added nine in the bottom of the period and four more in the sixth to build up the score to 18-2. The umpires called the ballgame after seven innings due the ten-run-rule. It is the third match for Thailand, which ended that way.
Son SI HYUN (3-4, 4 RBI) and Yoo CHAN WOONG 3-4, 5 RBI) hit homeruns for Korea. Kim JOO CHAH had three hits and two RBI.
Apichat NGANYING and Yannaf ARPORNSIRI drove two runs for Thailand.
Jeong CHAN HEON (W 1-0) gave up two runs on five hits in five innings.
Kamo KANJANVISUT (L 0-1) was charged with 14 hits, 14 runs and four walks in 4 1/3 innings.
