According to a report on Honkbalsite.com the 26-year-old Dominican left-hander Jose Ventura has to leave Sparta/Feyenoord Rotterdam to return to his home country. He didn’t receive an extension of his visa due to tighter regulations in the Netherlands.
In 14 games (ten starts) this season in the Dutch Hoofdklasse Ventura had a 4-8 record with an ERA of 3.28, while striking out 75 batters in 85 innings, walking 42. He also batted .270 (OBP .299/SLG .338) in 74 at-bats through 24 games.
With the league making a break due to the Haarlemse Honkbalweek and the European Championship in Germany, Sparta/Feyenoord is currently in sixth place in the standings with a 12-24 record (one tie). Not only will they miss Ventura in the remaining seven games of the regular season but also in the following playdowns.
