Jim Malec leaves Stock City Cubs for Tex Town Tigers

Posted on December 10, 2008December 10, 2008 by philipp

The American Jim Malec leaves the Austrian Baseball League team STOCK CITY CUBS to join the Dutch Eerste Klasse club TEX TOWN TIGERS (second division in the Netherlands). This was announced this week. Besides his stint with in Austria Malec also worked as a coach at the college and high school level in the USA. He will arrive at the end of January in the Netherlands to start training camp with a 19-man roster.

He talked about his expectations on the TIGERS website: “I expect every player to play as hard as they can any time they are on the field. In my program we never quit, we never let up, we never play at 90% or 95%. I expect my players to work as hard as they can to be the best they can. And that’s something that has nothing to do with talent or performance. If a player gives me everything he has, that’s all I will ever ask. Errors are going to happen. Nobody is perfect. But there are two things we can control—we will never be outworked, and we will never be outhustled”.
