One of the current vacancies for Managers for GB National Fastpitch Teams has now been filled with the appointment by the BSF of Jill Russell as Manager for the GB Under-18 Men’s Team.
This position became vacant when the previous Manager, Ian Tomlin, moved to the position of Head Coach late last year.
Previously an Under-19 programme, the team has moved to Under-18 in line with changes to softball age groups that are being introduced this year and next by the World Baseball Softball Confederation.
Qualified
Jill Russell, whose son Tom is in the programme, has been helping with team management for a while, and is currently organising the team’s trip to the Ayelet Games in Israel in March. Although there is no official European Championship competition for the team this year, the hope is that the Under-18 Men can attend at least two invitational tournaments in Europe during the 2019 season.
Jill is a qualified accountant and is currently a sports club Finance Director. She has also had eight years’ experience managing junior cricket teams and has been a volunteer events organiser. She has strong IT as well as financial skills.
The appointment was made in January by the GB Management Committee and has since been ratified by the BSF Executive.
Vacancies
Vacancies remain open for Team Managers for the GB Under-18 and Under-16 Women’s Teams.
