Baseball.it reported on the weekend that right-handed pitcher Jesus Matos will not join Unipol Bologna for the 2013 season in the Italian Baseball League. He apparently has suffered from an illness during a stint in the Colombia Winter League and isn’t receiving the ok from doctors to resume baseball activities. Matos arrived in Bologna in 2004 and has been a main stay for Fortitudo and Italian Baseball since then. He has had a 92-34 record with an ERA of 1.87 in the IBL. He led the club to European Cup titles in 2010 and 2012 and the national championship in 2005.
