Jason Friedman reinforces FC Barcelona Pitching

Posted on February 19, 2009 by philipp

The 24-year-old pitcher Jason Friedman joins the FC BARCELONA pitching staff. Due to his hitting abilities he also will get his opportunities on the offensive side of the game. The Chicago native played for the German 2nd Baseball-Bundesliga club BRAUNSCHWEIG SUBWAY 89ers last season, but moved to Catalonia during the winter.

Friedman was born in Chicago, went to Whitney Young High School and attended the Miami University, the University of Illinois-Chicago and Ithaca College. In BRAUNSCHWEIG he was a reliever and a first baseman. In 19 appearances on the mound he had an ERA of 0.94 with 45 strikeouts (9 walks) in 38 1/3 innings. At the plate he had a batting average of .534 (OBP .620/SLG 1.027) with nine homeruns, 32 runs and 32 RBI in 24 games.
