Japan wins Asian Olympic qualifier

Japan is the latest team, which qualified for the Olympic Games 2008 in Beijing. They won all three games at the Asian qualifier in Taiwan to clinch the berth. South Korea and Chinese Taipei finished in second and third place. They will have a last chance in a tournament next spring. There will be the last three spots in the Olympics determined. They will compete against Spain, Great Britain, Mexico, Canada, South Africa and Australia. The exact date of the event is not yet announced, but it should be in March. The games will be played in Taiwan, too.

Results of Asian qualifier:
Chinese Taipei – South Korea 2-5
Japan – Philippines 10-0
Chinese Taipei – Philippines 9-0
Japan – South Korea 4-3
South Korea – Philippines 13-1
Japan – Chinese Taipei 10-2
