World Baseball Classic Schedule for March 19:
Friday, 2am CET, WBC Pool 1: Korea – Japan
(PETCO Park, San Diego, California, ESPN, MLB.tv live)
Japan and Korea will meet for the fourth time in the 2009 World Baseball Classic on Thursday to conclude the second round. Korea has won two of the three (2-14, 1-0, 4-1) thanks to brilliant outings of pitcher Jung Keun Bong, who silenced Japanese batters with ease. Both teams already have their sights on the semi-finals next weekend and probably will use the match tonight to get some work in for players, who haven’t played much the past few weeks. Tetsuya Utsumi will begin for Team Nippon and faces Wonsam Jang in a duel between two southpaws. The winner is going to play against Team USA on Sunday, the loser takes on Venezuela on Saturday.
