Japan, Chinese Taipei claim Gold at Universiade

LOGO-2015UniversiadesLast week baseball returned to the Universiade. Eight teams competed in the tournament in Gwangju, Korea. Europe was represented by the teams from France and the Czech Republic, as well as through scorer Pablo Carpio from Spain.

In the end Chinese Taipei and Japan shared the Gold Medal, as the final game got cancelled due to rain. Korea finished in third place ahead of the United States. The Czech Republic’s game for fifth place against China got rained out as well. The Czech team had beaten Mexico and France in the tournament, but lost close games to the US and to Chinese Taipei. France remained winless after losses to the Czech, Mexico, Korea and China.
