The 2009 ISF Easton Foundation Softball Youth World Cup (age 16 and under) took place in Prague, Czech Republic from August 9th to 16th. Japan won the tournament by beating the Netherlands 16-1 (4) in the championship game. The Dutch team had reached the finals with a 1-0 win over the Dominicans in the semi-finals and a 5-4 (8) victory against Puerto Rico in the bronze medal match. Japan went perfect throughout the tournament, winning all of their eight games. Puerto Rico had won the second preliminary round group with a 5-0 record, but lost twice to the Netherlands in the playoff round to finish in third place. The Czech Republic, Russia and Italy also were in the eleven-team field. The USA didn’t send a squad to the Czech capital.
