The Sydney Blue Sox completed a four-game sweep against the Brisbane Bandits on Sunday with a 6-2 win in the Australian Baseball League. Germany’s Jan-Niclas Stoecklin allowed just four hits and four walks in 5 2/3 scoreless innings to capture his first win of his ABL career. Fellow German Donald Lutz went 1-for-11 with a single and two walks in the series, making his debut for Brisbane.
With the victory on Sunday the Sydney Blue Sox returned back to .500 and moved into a tie for fourth place in the standings. The Brisbane Bandits dropped to third after losing the last five games. At the top the Canberra Cavalry won another series and improved to 16-8. They now have won seven of their last ten games. At the bottom the Melbourne Aces split a series against the Perth Heat and the Adelaide Bit dropped three of four against Canberra.
